france trip: day 2

Day 2 we arrived in Paris 8:30 am. We tried to sleep on the plane so we would be ready to get after it once we arrived. Sleep didn't really happen but with a fresh mouth, adrenaline kicked in and we were going.

We took the train to our hotel, dropped our stuff and had to eat something yummy. Crepes for Ada and Jodie. A ham and cheese omelette for me. That omelette was one of the best things I ate our whole trip!

We set off to explore the city. The Place St-Michel was near our hotel. This fountain is very cool and a great landmark. This first day in Paris I was moved by how Adaline seemed to belong here. She looked and behaved in such a way that I couldn't stop photographing her.

This building was another landmark that we used all the time. Funny the relief I would feel when it would come into view and now I can't remember what it is called.
What can I say about Jodie? We just love her. She has three adorable little boys at home but no girls to go on a mommy daughter trip with, so we invited her to come with us. Plus she is so fun and was in charge of communications for the trip. A very big job.

There is a great flower market near Sainte-Chappelle where we wandered around for awhile. We ended up going back there at the end of our trip for an owl made of bark that Ada wanted to bring home. Below are pics of the windows at Sainte-Chappelle. They are magnificent!

When Jacob and I visited here last October, This area of the chapel was under construction. They did a beautiful job restoring it. No pretty pictures outside Sainte-Chappelle, it is under going restoration as well. The Notre Dame is very impressive. Ada took all of these photos except the first. It was fun to see what she thought was photo worthy. Here are just a few.

Guess what? We are tired here. Most all of the restaurants in Paris have outdoor seating, some with glass covers like this. Many restaurants have their restrooms in the basement. You walk down these narrow, sometimes twisty staircases and there you go. This restroom was especially pretty. The doors on the left are old phone booths. Very cool.

Croque Monsieur for Ada. After lunch we jumped on the train to see the Eiffel Tower. It does not disappoint. The lines for the elevator to get to the viewing decks were very long. We talked about walking up the stairs but decided we were too tired. I've seen the Eiffel Tower three times now. If I ever get a fourth, I'm going up.

Never too big for a carousel ride. All of these horses had tires for back legs.
Jodie found free WiFi near this gnarly old tree in the park by the Eiffel Tower. Yay!
