2 hour Stop in Boise

I had a flight back from SLC on Sunday and didn't realize that I had a 2 hour layover in Boise. When I got in I called home and Justin came right over to grab me. I made it for Sunday dinner at Mom and Dads. It was an evening birthday celebration for Amy and Caleb. The visit was much too short but I had a great time. I have really great Parents and sibblings and nieces and nephews. I miss all of them and got a bit camera happy so I could show my kids some pics of their cousins, etc. Here is a slideshow of all the pics...

i'm getting there

When I was growing up we would go to Utah to see my mom's family. We would play with our cousins and listen to great stories about all sorts of relatives, living and dead, that I didn't know. They all seemed very interesting and I always wished that I had known them. I remember my grandma talking about her mother trying to teach her to be "cultured and refined". Those words have always stuck with me. Would my great-grandmother think I was "cultured and refined"? When I was little I wanted that answer to be yes! Yes is still my answer. For some reason I really want Claire Ord to like me.

Now I am older and still working towards becoming more cultured and more refined. I will spare you the details of my day so far except the ones that show my improvement:

* Today I read The Merchant of Venice and loved every word. We are discussing it at book club tonight. I am excited.

* I started taking piano lessons last month, so today I practiced piano for an hour while James napped. That means I didn't catch up on my shows and my wrists are a little bent. Oooh, it feels good.

* I was rushing around this morning, loading my kids into the cruiser and I slipped on an ice puddle. Down I went onto my hip and out popped... FUDGE! This is interesting on many levels. First, I probably haven't said fudge as an exclamation since 5th grade. Second, the f-word is not one that usually plagues me. Third, a little part of me likes to casually swear so I do let some of the lesser curse words out from time to time, but not in front of my kids. Since they were there though, and I fell really hard, I am overjoyed that fudge came to mind. They didn't even notice. Thanks and love to Grandma Ord. I hope she is pleased. Maybe she even helped my cause.

I'm working on getting a picture of my great-grandmother to post.

Jamaica, Jamaica...

This is an article about a Recent Conference that was held at a chapel in Spanish Town, Jamaica. It was broadcast throughout the Caribbean. Some of the members in the pics are folks that I know and will get to see when we go visit in March. I am sure this was a HUGE deal for the members there.
