So, I've entered a whole new world called running. I really cannot believe I've done it. I've seen it happen to others but I didn't ever think I would be strong enough or motivated enough to actually go through with it. I started running with some friends mid-May and a couple Saturdays ago I ran my first 5k. Of course I forgot my camera, but here is my proof... #67. The number 22 is my ultimate favorite but 67 did me right. I reached my goal time and was excited to actually race again. I haven't been in a race since high school track where I was a sprinter/hurdler and was absolutely baffled why my friends who were distance runners would ever do that to themselves.
I am training for a sprint triathlon(swim half a mile, bike 12 miles, and run 3 miles). It started out that my friend Cindy and I were going to do it for fun, then she injured herself and I had to decide if it was something I wanted to do on my own. I am turning 30 in September and I thought a triathlon would be something memorable to do for the occasion so I decided to go for it. For those of you who don't know, I'm happy to be turning 30 and I am using every excuse I can think of to make it the be the coolest and most exciting thing ever! I had my tantrum at 29. I went out and bought super nice eye cream and that seems to have gotten me over it.
My friends and I have introduced something new into our normal running workouts. We meet at my house, ride our bikes a little over half way around Hauser lake(about 4.5 miles), jump into the lake and swim to a dock that looks really far away(I still need to measure the distance), swim back, and ride our bikes back up to my house(2 miles). We do this every Wednesday at 8am and I love it. I will be so sad to say good bye to that part of my life when the weather changes. I'll still have running though... I'm hooked!
